Thus, does anyone know how to keep Fritz truly in Friend mode when infinite analysis is switched on. The reason I switch on infinite analysis is that I'm curious to see how far down the infinite analysis list are the moves that Fritz plays in Friend mode (well in fact as I say above Fritz seems to play the best top move). I've noted however that if I turn on infinite analysis, Fritz then starts to play the top move shown in infinite analysis despite that Friend mode is still signalled at the top of the screen. They are trying to force all Fritz 10 buyers to upgrade to chessbase 9, but dont have the integrity to say it up front. Midknightblue: yea, kind of shady marketing. marketing gimmicks, I guess and they did'nt say that upfront very bad! there is some discussion of the matter here. In fritz 10, they have changed the file from fritz.eng to "fritz10.engine" and apparently put up some kind of blockade, so that you can not use fritz 10 engine on chessbase, unless you are updated to chessbase 9.
